This Thursday, gamers of all kinds at Code42 will come together to participate in Extra Life, a charitable event organized to raise money for the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. To participate, gamers pledge to play games for 24 hours straight, stream their efforts online, and solicit donations from friends and family.
For our first official Extra Life event, we’ve come together as Team Code42. Team Code42 is a collection of gamers, both at our headquarters in Minneapolis, Minnesota and in our satellite locations.
So our fans can join us for the event, we’ll be running a single stream that will rotate between the various players over the course of 34 hours. Yes, that’s right–34 hours. While everyone involved will play for 24 hours, we have a couple shifts of players starting at different times to extend the fun. Our stream starts on November 2 at 10 p.m. CDT and continue all the way through 8 a.m., November 4. As our stream rotates between players, you’ll see Destiny 2, World of WarCraft, Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds, Overwatch, and much more. One group of players is even running a 24-hour Dungeons and Dragons campaign (Fifth Edition, if you want to get specific).
We’re playing to support Gillette Children’s Specialty Healthcare, the local Children’s Miracle Network Hospital in St. Paul, Minnesota. Gillette treats thousands of children each year, regardless of their illness, injury or their family’s ability to pay. These kids are facing scary stuff like cancer, cystic fibrosis and injuries they may get from just being a kid. We are honored to be able to help them in some small way.
We’ve set a fundraising goal for our inaugural Extra Life event at $9,042. We hope that you’ll help support our efforts with a one-time gift that will go directly to Gillette Children’s Hospital. Your donation is tax-deductible and will make miracles happen for families who desperately need them.
We need your help to reach our goal for the kids. Thank you so much for supporting our team’s efforts! Of course, please watch us get loopy on sleep deprivation and gaming on our official event stream.
